Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James might be facing weeks off the court after suffering a right foot injury during his team’s 111-108 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.

The 38-year-old and the new all-time leading scorer in NBA history will receive further examination and testing this week as the Lakers try to assess the full extent of his injury, according to a report citing ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

James sustained the injury in the third quarter after driving on Dwight Powell in a layup attempt and tweaking his foot as he landed in the paint.

“I heard a pop,” he told teammates as he laid on the court.

The Lakers had been down by 27 points in the first half, but the team rallied, with James playing an additional 10 minutes in the fourth quarter, the report noted.

Head coach Darvin Ham was unaware James said he had “heard a pop.”

“I didn’t hear that,” Ham said. “I didn’t hear him say that at all.”

James ended the game with 26 points, 11 of which came in the final quarter following the injury.

After the game, James was seen walking with a limp, and he will not feature in Tuesday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
