Joe Manchin rules out 2024 run for governor

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is not planning another run for governor, the West Virginia senator told talk radio host Hoppy Kercheval on Wednesday, as speculation swirls around his 2024 plans.
Manchin has not yet revealed whether he will run for reelection in the Senate, and as a centrist Democrat from a red state, he would be one of Republicans’ top targets this cycle. Manchin, who was governor of West Virginia from 2005 to 2010, has also not ruled out a White House bid.
Current Gov. Jim Justice (R-WV) said he will make an announcement about a run for Manchin’s Senate seat by the end of February.
