Hollywood megastar Sylvester Stallone said Friday his role as Oklahoma’s godfather in Tulsa King is full of firsts.
The outing as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a mob capo for New York exiled to Oklahoma, will be the first time the Italian American actor has ventured into the genre.

“I’d been left out every time,” he said. “I remember going in to audition for The Godfather as an extra, one of 250 people at the wedding. … They said I don’t look Italian enough.”

In the new Paramount+ series, Stallone’s character goes to prison after keeping his mouth shut and is rewarded for his loyalty by being sent to Tulsa, according to the actor.
Stallone compared the character’s journey to the exile of Napoleon Bonaparte.
Along with the series being his first mafia-genre project, it is also Stallone’s first time acting for television, he said.
“It’s much harder,” the actor confessed. “It’s a real grind.”
“For example, the amount of time it took to do this series, I could have done five Rocky sequels back to back. … You’re doing 10 shows. That’s an hour each, which is equivalent to five movies … but no breaks, and you’re in Tulsa in the heat.”
