The Chosen notches win for most inspiring show at Movieguide Awards

The Chosen has been recognized as the Movieguide Awards’s most inspiring show.

In acknowledgment of its third season’s theatrical release, The Chosen took home the 2023 Movieguide Awards’s Epiphany Prize.

The Chosen, a streaming series based on the life of Jesus, attracted a historic number of fans to the theaters in November and December to watch the first two episodes of season three, with a total worldwide box-office earnings of $14,679,641.

The crowdfunded series is created, co-written, and directed by Dallas Jenkins and distributed by Angel Studios.

Co-executive producers Chris June and Chad Gundersen, along with Angel Studios Head of Distribution Jared Geesey, attended the Movieguide Awards ceremony in Hollywood.

“[It’s] an honor to represent Angel Studios Originals The Chosen and The Wingfeather Saga at the 2023 Movieguide Awards,” Geesey said.

Angel Studios’s newly released animated series The Wingfeather Saga, which set a record for being the most crowdfunded animated family show, was nominated for the best family television award.

“This is a testament to the great work of our creators,” Angel Studios CEO Neal Harmon told the Washington Examiner. “But it’s also a testament to the faith and investment of the fans behind them.”

A full release of the winners of the Movieguide Awards will be announced when the awards ceremony airs on UPtv on Feb. 26.
