Sen. Bob Casey successfully undergoes surgery for prostate cancer

Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) successfully underwent prostate cancer surgery.
In a statement posted on his Twitter account Tuesday, the Pennsylvania Democrat announced that the surgery went off without a hitch and had been scheduled well beforehand. The post added that he would take a period of rest and recovery before returning to work.

“This afternoon, Senator Casey underwent scheduled surgery for prostate cancer. His doctor reports that, as expected, the procedure went well and he confirmed that the Senator should not require further treatment,” the statement read.

“Senator Casey and his family appreciate the well-wishes and extraordinary support from every corner of the Commonwealth, and he looks forward to getting back to a normal schedule after a period of rest and recovery,” it concluded.
