A man driving a U-Haul allegedly went on a “violent rampage” on Monday, attacking pedestrians in multiple locations across Brooklyn, New York.
Four people have been hospitalized, and four others suffered minor injuries, the New York Police Department said.

Of the four people who were hospitalized, two are in critical condition, and two are in serious condition. An investigation into the incident and the motive of the crime is still underway, but authorities said there is “no indication” there was terrorism involvement.
Officials said there are seven separate sites they are investigating. The man in the U-Haul was allegedly screaming that he wanted to die and then led police on a foot chase before he was eventually detained. Police did not find anything suspicious inside the U-Haul, per ABC News.
NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell thanked officers for stopping the “violent rampage” and said the suspect, who has not been named, is in custody.
“What we saw today is a clear example why, every moment of every day, the NYPD must be prepared for every possibility,” Sewell said.

Sewell also called on the public to call the NYPD with any tips they may have about the incident.
Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) said she has been briefed on the incident and that her office is coordinating with local law enforcement to assist as the investigation continues.
“I am praying for everyone who was injured today in Brooklyn,” Hochul tweeted. “Grateful for the swift response of @NYPDnews to apprehend the suspect and of our first responders to tend to those injured.”
