Gov. Chris Sununu (R-NH) predicted that former President Donald Trump would lose the Republican primary in New Hampshire and fail to win the nomination in general.

Sununu made the bold claim in an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, saying that the GOP was “moving on” from the former president.

“Look, Donald Trump is not gonna be the nominee, right? We’re just moving on as a party, as a country,” he said. “I mean, look, we’re still a year out, you have a former president running, and already he’s having trouble leading in the polls. … It’s not going that way.”

SUNUNU SAYS HE’S MORE FISCALLY CONSERVATIVE THAN DESANTIS AMID 2024 SPECULATION

Sununu predicted that if the primary in New Hampshire were held today, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) would win.

“It’s just not getting any better for the former president. We’re just gonna say thank you for your service and move on,” he said.

Sununu is widely expected to throw his hat into the 2024 presidential race. He markets himself as a true conservative who can get things done. On Thursday, he espoused his conservative credentials and targeted DeSantis.

“I’m ranked the most fiscally conservative governor in the country,” Sununu said at Politico’s The Fifty: America’s Governors event.

“I’m No. 1 in personal freedoms. Sorry, Ron, you’re No. 2.”
