EXCLUSIVE — The Michigan State College of Human Medicine achieved a diversity, equity, and inclusion score of over 80% in a survey submitted to the Association of American Medical Colleges that included admitting the school has a “holistic admissions policy.”

The college’s responses to the AAMC’s Diversity, Inclusion, Culture, and Equity inventory were obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by the medical watchdog group Do No Harm and shared with the Washington Examiner. The medical school’s responses to the survey detail the extent of the school’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

GREG ABBOTT TELLS TEXAS TO BAN DEI IN HIRING AT PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS FOLLOWING ‘WOKE’ REPORTS

“MSUCOM’s self-reported responses on the DICE Inventory show it has instituted the majority of DEI-related policies and strategies pushed by the AAMC,” Do No Harm program manager Laura Morgan told the Washington Examiner. “Michigan taxpayers who help fund MSUCOM deserve to have future doctors who are learning how to take care of their medical problems, and must insist that the school stops its descent into wokeness in order to regain their trust.”

The school’s overall score of 81% indicates the institution has made “substantial DEI efforts” and included affirmative responses to questions that asked whether or not the school had a “holistic admissions policy” and other practices that would encourage “a diverse class of students.” The school also told the AAMC that it had “undertaken efforts to integrate diversity, inclusion, and equity within the curriculum as a key learning outcome.”

On its website, the Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine is currently advertising a position as a curriculum specialist that requires job applicants to submit a statement of diversity, equity, and inclusion, which the school says should contain an applicant’s “past experiences and contributions to inclusive excellence” as well as ideas for future initiatives.

Diversity statements have become a commonplace practice in academic hiring at public universities across the country. A recent Goldwater Institute report found that up to 80% of job postings for Arizona’s public universities required such statements.

“The Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine’s public job posting requiring a diversity statement represents an example of how DEI advocates are forcing educators to swear allegiance to their agenda,” said Do No Harm’s Morgan. “MSUCOM needs to return to recruitment and hiring standards that encourage academic excellence instead of screening for agreement with woke ideology.”

Michigan State did not respond to a request for comment.
