Happy LeBron James Day?!
If you’re in the city of Akron, Ohio, Feb. 8 is now a holiday for the Los Angeles Lakers star.
“HEY AKRON! To commemorate LeBron James becoming the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, Mayor Daniel Horrigan has proclaimed February 8th, 2023 as ‘LeBron James Day’ in the City of Akron! Today, let’s all remember that a kid from #Akron can do anything with hard work,” the city tweeted.

The announcement was made hours after James became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

While being honored in his hometown, James has also been the subject of controversy over comments he made in the past criticizing the Dallas Cowboys for refusing to kneel during the national anthem.
James also bashed the city of Boston, calling its residents “racist as f***” when he was asked which city he hates playing in.
