Immediately after President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address Tuesday, several figures are due to give responses representing several ideological viewpoints.

GOP response: Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders

Republican leaders in Congress chose Sanders last week to deliver the party’s response with support from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

Sanders will be delivering the address after just a month in office. She was elected last year as Arkansas’s first female governor. Sanders is viewed by many Republicans as properly combative with the media and liberal figures., She served as Trump’s press secretary for two years.

GOP Spanish language response: Rep. Juan Ciscomani

The freshman Arizona representative was selected by Republican congressional leadership to deliver the party’s response to the address in Spanish. Ciscomani, a Mexico native, won a narrow race over his Democratic counterpart by just 1 point. He has been a vocal critic of the Biden administration’s handling of the border crisis.

Following the announcement, Ciscomani said he was “humbled and honored by the opportunity.” He said his message will be that “the American dream is a dream worth fighting for.”

Progressive response: Rep. Delia Ramirez

Biden’s opponents from the Left chose the freshman Illinois Democrat, seen as a rising progressive star, to deliver their response. Ramirez, the daughter of Guatemalan immigrants, is expected to bash Biden for not being liberal enough on issues such as abortion and immigration. She has previously said that “abortion rights and comprehensive immigration reform are … essential to our nation’s well-being.”

“I will be laying out a vision for how Democrats can win working-class voters of all races and nationalities by fighting for a government that has working people’s backs,” she tweeted after the announcement that she will deliver the response.

Trump’s response: Former President Donald Trump

The former president announced on Truth Social that he would be doing a live “Play by Play” analysis of the address “by popular request.” He didn’t immediately say what format his response will be in, but it is likely that he will be live-truthing his response.

“If properly done, and if Joe has just a modestly good night, this speech has the opportunity to rival any of the World’s great orators, including, Lincoln, Washington, and, of course, the late, great, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Winston Churchill,” Trump wrote mockingly. “Enjoy!”
