A number of staff writers at Saturday Night Live are reportedly set to boycott the show following the announcement that comedian Dave Chappelle will return to host the post-election episode.

Chappelle has been unabashedly staunch in his defense of comedy, and the comedy legend has cracked jokes in the past few years that many on the Left have deemed “transphobic” and “homophobic.”

This criticism against Chappelle appears to be shared by staff writers of the long-running show.

“I’m trans and non-binary. I use they/them pronouns,” Celeste Yim, a writer at the show, posted on Instagram following the announcement of Chappelle hosting.

“Transphobia is murder and it should be condemned.”

It is unclear if Yim is one of the writers set to boycott the show.

“They’re not going to do the show,” a source close to the upset staff said, according to a report. “But none of the actors are boycotting.”

There was no evidence of a boycott when the comedian attended a Tuesday meeting with the SNL crew, a representative for Chappelle said.

“The room was full of writers. They all pitched ideas and they seemed very excited about it. … Dave is looking to have some fun,” the representative said.
