FBI finds no classified documents at Biden’s Rehoboth Beach home

The FBI did not find any classified documents at President Joe Biden‘s Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, home after a search Wednesday.
Biden’s lawyers said the “planned search” was completed by noon local time, and personnel did not find any classified documents from his time as vice president.

“The DOJ’s planned search of the President’s Rehoboth residences, conducted in coordination and cooperation with the President’s attorneys, has concluded. The search was conducted from 8:30 AM to noon. No documents with classified markings were found. Consistent with the process in Wilmington, the DOJ took for further review some materials and handwritten notes that appear to relate to his time as Vice President,” Bob Bauer, Biden’s personal attorney, said in a statement.
The Wednesday search comes after the president’s other Delaware property, in Wilmington, was searched by the FBI on Jan. 20. On Tuesday, the White House also confirmed that the FBI had searched the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., for classified documents in the middle of November last year. The November search had not been disclosed until reports about it surfaced Tuesday.
Biden purchased his Rehoboth Beach home in June 2017, shortly after leaving his position as vice president. He has made several visits to the house during his two years as president, most recently during the weekend of Jan. 20.

The investigation into Biden’s alleged mishandling of classified documents is being handled by special counsel Robert Hur, who was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland last month. Hur took over the investigation into Biden’s documents this week after the FBI and DOJ had been looking into the matter for months.
The FBI declined to comment on the Wednesday search of Biden’s Rehoboth Beach residence.
