A 29-year-old woman was arrested after posing as a high school student in New Jersey, police say.

Hyejeong Shin was able to attend New Brunswick High School for four days by using a fake birth certificate. She was eventually apprehended by police, ABC 7 reported. Though in custody, the ability of Shin to so easily enroll caused outrage among students and parents.

“Last week supposedly the administrators let in a 29-year-old,” one student told the outlet. “So basically everybody was scared. Some people gave their personal information to that lady.”

“This old woman came to the school. She was trying to get kids to [hang out],” another student said. “It makes a lot of students feel insecure and I get it.”

Students staged a protest at the school Wednesday, and others maintain that an atmosphere of unease still permeates the school.

New Brunswick Public Schools Superintendent Aubrey Johnson defended the actions of the district by citing a state law that “prohibits a student being prevented from attending school based on lack of documentation.”

A review of school protocol was mentioned in a school board meeting after the arrest.
