With more than 95% of votes reported, DeSantis easily fended off Democrat Charlie Crist’s challenge, 59.4% to 40%.
“We stood our ground. We did not back down,” the governor said in his victory speech. “We had the conviction to guide us, and we had the courage to lead. We made promises to the people, and we have delivered on those promises.”
The decisive win has fueled speculation of a 2024 run for DeSantis, especially because of less-than-satisfactory performances from Trump-endorsed candidates.
Behar further claimed that there should have been a “blue tsunami” in the midterm elections, blaming Democratic messaging for its absence.
“There is no good messaging going on on the Democratic side,” she explained. “It’s democracy, stupid! It’s abortion rights, stupid! It’s voting rights, stupid! And sell it!”
