President Joe Biden took a slight shot at his predecessor, former President Donald Trump, on Tuesday while honoring the 2022 NBA champion Golden State Warriors at the White House.
Near the top of his remarks, Biden commended the Warriors, whom he had previously hosted at the White House while serving as vice president back in 2016, for understanding “what it takes to work together” before mocking Trump for failing to honor either of the Warriors’ 2017 or 2018 championship teams.

“Let me just say that the Golden State Warriors are always welcome in this White House,” Biden joked, eliciting applause from the room. “No more droughts.”
Trump notoriously rescinded his invitation for the Warriors to visit the White House after their 2017 title run following star point guard Steph Curry voicing opposition to the then-president.
“Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team,” Trump tweeted at the time. “Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!”

Trump also said during the lead-up to the 2018 NBA finals that he would again not invite either the Warriors or their opponents, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
