Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and two players took part in a roundtable discussion on gun violence with senior Biden administration officials Tuesday while the team visited with President Joe Biden at the White House to celebrate its 2022 NBA title.

Kerr and Warriors point guard Stephen Curry joined White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre at Tuesday’s press briefing, where the coach first announced his participation in the roundtable.

“I want to thank President Biden and Vice President Harris for the invitation to come to the White House today to celebrate our championship from a year ago. It’s a great reminder of how lucky we are to be Americans to live in a country where we can chase our dreams and enjoy the fruits of our labor,” Kerr said at the top of Tuesday’s briefing. “To come here today, with members of the organization to celebrate is really something special, and it was also very fulfilling for me just a little while ago to take part in a roundtable on gun violence and gun safety with some senior White House staffers, along with Klay Thompson and Moses Moody.”

Following Kerr’s remarks, Curry also extended a special thanks to the Biden administration from the “basketball family” for its work in securing the release of WNBA star Brittney Griner last year.

Kerr has frequently used his platform to highlight gun violence. He notably declared at a May press conference this past year that he is “tired of the moments of silence” and demanded government action to stem the string of mass shootings in the country.
