Kanye West’s Twitter account was suspended early Friday after the rapper posted an image of a swastika.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk said the rapper and clothing designer had “again violated our rule against incitement to violence” with the post. “Account will be suspended,” Musk tweeted.

West, who now legally goes by Ye, had tweeted an image of a Jewish star with a Nazi swastika inside it and captioned it “YE24 LOVE EVERYONE,” along with the hashtag #LOVESPEECH. The tweet has since been taken down.

Musk rejected the tweet’s reference to “love speech,” saying, “This is not.”

A Twitter user noticed that West’s account had been pulled and tweeted at Musk, asking him to “fix Kanye.” Musk replied that he “tried his best.”

In November, Musk said he would control all Twitter content moderation decisions.

Musk has been outspoken about supporting free speech while maintaining that Twitter would not become a “free-for-all hellscape” under his leadership.

West’s tweet followed comments made on Infowars about people needing to “stop dissing the Nazis” and saying that there are “good things” about Adolf Hitler.

In October, West posted a string of antisemitic and offensive remarks, spurring several brands, including Adidas, to cut ties with him.
