An armed man in Las Vegas is being lauded by local police after he helped security take down another armed man causing chaos at a shopping mall.

The incident occurred on March 23 at around 3:15 p.m. when officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call that a knife-wielding man was threatening Abercrombie & Fitch employees at the Fashion Show Mall, according to a report.

The suspect, identified as Letrelle Calhoun, had fled the area when officers arrived to assist the Abercrombie & Fitch employees, but he was soon reported to be in the mall’s plaza area flashing the knife.

Security officials went to confront the man and told police Calhoun was “acting erratically” and that they “attempted to walk him off the property away from people.”

As they were escorting him out of the area, Calhoun “became aggressive and pulled out a knife from his front left pocket and help it upside down, like in a stabbing position.”

“I’ll kill you on camera,” he reportedly said after he lunged at the officers. “I’ll come back with a 100 and kill you all.”

An armed bystander saw the events unfolding and took action.

Brandishing his handgun, he aimed it at Calhoun, according to the report.

“This gave the security officers the opportunity to disarm Calhoun and place him in hand restraints,” the arrest report read.
