Chris Christie slams conspiracy theories about Taylor Swift: ‘We should be celebrating her’

Former Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie slammed conspiracy theories alleging that singer Taylor Swift is a Pentagon asset or working in a scheme to ensure President Joe Biden gets reelected in November.

The former New Jersey governor called the conspiracy theories “ridiculous” and showered praise on the Pennsylvania-born singer-songwriter, while on NBC News’s Meet the Press on Sunday.

“Ridiculous. Ridiculous. Taylor Swift is one of the great American success stories. We should be celebrating her, not having all these crazy conspiracy theories, but this is the kind of thing that Donald Trump brings about,” Christie said.

Swift has been the victim of conspiracy theories that she is working for the Pentagon as an asset — something the Pentagon has denied — and is looking to use her endorsement to persuade her fans to show up in droves for Biden in November.

The singer endorsed Biden over former President Donald Trump in the 2020 election, but her endorsement did not appear to have any significant effect on the outcome of the election.

The “Cruel Summer” singer won the Grammy for album of the year last week and is expected to attend the Super Bowl on Sunday night, which her boyfriend — Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce — is playing.

The conspiracy theories made about Swift were largely spread online by some hard-right supporters of Trump. The former president dismissed the idea of Swift endorsing Biden in 2024, saying, “There’s no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the History of our Country,” in a post on Truth Social.
