“Every year, a different national forest is selected to provide a tree to appear on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol building for the holiday season,” according to the tree’s website.
This year’s tree comes from the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina.
Ornaments that will adorn the tree include those contributed by school systems, art studios, community groups, and conservation programs in the Tar Heel State.
Ruby will visit North Chesterfield, Virginia, and Joint Base Andrews in Maryland before finally arriving at the Capitol.
The tree can be tracked on its website.
