George Santos and Adam Kinzinger clash over Republican’s controversies: ‘Go on CNN and cry’

Scandal-plagued Rep. George Santos (R-NY) and former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) clashed on Twitter Wednesday over whether Santos should step down.
Kinzinger demanded Santos resign after the latter reiterated his decision to keep his seat despite being embroiled in a scandal for falsifying his past during the midterm elections. The attack prompted Santos to respond to Kinzinger and rib him for his CNN gig.

“I was elected to serve the people of #NY03 not the party & politicians, I remain committed to doing that and regret to hear that local officials refuse to work with my office to deliver results to keep our community safe and lower the cost of living. I will NOT resign,” Santos decreed on Twitter.
“Resign now,” Kinzinger replied.
“Go on CNN and cry about it,” Santos rebutted.
“Cries are better than lies, FRAUD,” Kinzinger then shot back.

Santos snagged a Republican pickup in New York’s 3rd Congressional District during the midterm elections, but quickly became embroiled in scandal after reports surfaced that he embellished chunks of his resume and accounts of his personal life. This includes multiple claims that he earned a degree from New York University and that he was a “descendant” of Holocaust survivors.
Given the threadbare Republican majority in the House, GOP leadership has been cautious about penalizing Santos, while other members have implored him to resign. A House Democrat recently filed an ethics complaint against him over the matter, likely triggering an investigation, but Santos has been resolute.
Democrats have seized on the controversy and slammed Republicans for exhibiting reluctance to rebuke Santos publicly and push him out of Congress.

Kinzinger, an unabashed critic of former President Donald Trump and elements of the GOP, departed Congress earlier this year after opting not to vie for reelection in light of unfavorable redistricting. He recently took a job at CNN, where he will serve as a senior political commentator.
