Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) wants you not to forget about him as he continues to prop himself up as a potential candidate for president.

Newsom is celebrating his inauguration for his second term with a “March for Democracy” on the two-year anniversary of the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol. A march that is nominally about our commitment to democracy, which is actually a celebration of Newsom and the latest development in his political career, perfectly symbolizes his tenure in California.

CALIFORNIA ATMOSPHERIC RIVER STORM LEAVES OVER 200,000 WITHOUT POWER

While Newsom postures as a defender of democracy while glamorizing his own victory, California continues to struggle. The state is looking at a $24 billion budget deficit thanks to declining tax revenue. The state once again topped the list in U-Haul departures as middle- and lower-class residents have been priced out of the California dream and moved out to greener pastures.

Combined with energy woes, homelessness, and a cost of living that continues to rise, California is bleeding. Newsom has been a major part of that, serving as governor for four years and lieutenant governor for eight. But pushing failures to the back of the room and throwing symbolic actions at an adoring media has been the way of California Democrats for years now.

Don’t look at how many residents are moving out — look at me and my little parade for democracy!

Newsom has said that he won’t run for president, even if President Joe Biden steps aside, though you would have to be a fool to take him at his word. He would hardly be the first politician to lie about a run for the White House. Newsom has tried to butt heads with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), trying to compare California’s decay in a favorable way to the prospering state of the GOP’s likely nominee.

Newsom is the perfect representation of the Democratic Party. He is all show and no substance, concerned only about “messaging” even as his policies wreak havoc on the state he was chosen to govern. He thinks that this can all be masked with symbolic, little displays, and so that is all he intends to do. Here’s hoping that he and his “March for Democracy” supporters don’t need to step over a few hundred homeless people on their short march to the state Capitol.
