Former President Donald Trump‘s pick for Republican National Committee co-chairwoman has vowed to use “every single penny” from the committee to do what she claims is its “only job,” getting Trump elected in November.
Lara Trump, who is Trump’s daughter-in-law and his pick for RNC co-chairwoman, said that if selected to be the position Trump has endorsed her for, she will not use RNC funds for unnecessary expenditures, such as flowers, while speaking on Newsmax’s Rob Schmitt Tonight on Tuesday.
“Here’s what I can tell you. The RNC needs to be the leanest, most lethal political fighting machine we’ve ever seen in American history. That is the goal over the next 9 1/2 months,” Lara Trump said. “If I am elected to this position, I can assure you, there will not be any more $70,000 or whatever exorbitant amount of money it was spent on flowers.”
“Every single penny will go to the No. 1 and the only job of the RNC. That is electing Donald J. Trump as president of the United States and saving this country. We have no time to waste. We’ve got to get to work. We’ve got a lot of money to raise, and we need to ensure that every penny goes to those things that I just mentioned,” she added.
Trump has not yet won the Republican nomination for president and still has an opponent in former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley. The former president is far ahead in the nominating contest and is widely expected to win the nomination.
She also said the RNC needs to invest more in early voting and legal ballot harvesting, arguing Republicans need to be “playing chess, not checkers,” with voting strategy.
Trump announced his slate of picks for RNC leadership on Monday, endorsing North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley for chairman, Lara Trump for co-chairwoman, and his co-campaign manager Chris LaCivita for committee COO.

“This group of three is highly talented, battle-tested, and smart. They have my complete and total endorsement to lead the Republican National Committee,” Donald Trump said in a statement on Monday. “Every penny will be used properly. New Day.”
RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, who was Donald Trump’s pick when she was first elected, has not stepped down from her position, but rumors have swirled that she may step down following the GOP’s South Carolina presidential primary in the coming weeks.
