President Joe Biden and his team think that TikTok is a national security threat, but they also want to encourage the public to use it.
Biden’s campaign decided to join TikTok, which it boasted about on Sunday in a post on X. John Kirby, newly appointed as the White House’s national security communications adviser, said that “nothing’s changed about the national security concerns” about TikTok on government devices. Biden signed a ban on the app on government devices at the end of 2022.
But Biden is desperate with his reelection campaign circling the drain, so he is desperate to court voters anywhere he can find them. Given the Democratic Party’s pandering to young voters and the confused assumption that social media is real life, Biden has a flippant disregard for those national security concerns to discover voters that don’t hate his presidency.
Of course, if Biden is joining TikTok, that means he is both encouraging people to stay on the app in order to follow him and encouraging people who don’t use the app to join it. This despite the concerns, as Kirby described it, about “the preservation of data and the potential misuse of that data and privacy information by foreign actors.” Biden and his team know better, which is why they banned it on government devices and why Democratic campaigns use separate devices specifically for TikTok. But Biden is content to let millions continue to send their data straight to the Chinese Communist Party if it means he can chase their votes.

This is the essence of Biden’s campaign: reckless decisions solely to pander to voters, regardless of their implications. This is why Biden continued to pursue unconstitutional student debt amnesty, which would bail out predominantly wealthy, white recipients at the expense of delegitimizing the Supreme Court and usurping congressional powers. It is why he keeps trying to pressure Israel to stop fighting the genocidal terrorists who killed Israeli (and American) civilians in order to please whiny, antisemitic student activists. And it is why he now wants people to jeopardize their own data and privacy on a Chinese spyware app.
Biden is selfish and politically desperate, and this is yet another decision he is making with his reelection taking priority over the good of the country. He has already shown that he is mentally unfit for office, but this is further proof that even his political decision-making is unbecoming of the president of the United States.
