The Biden border crisis has exposed New York Democrats as a joke because they all continue to tolerate the conditions that lead to the violent crimes they also condemn.
Multiple illegal immigrants jumped two New York City police officers over the weekend. Those illegal immigrants are only in New York City because it encourages illegal immigrants to cross the border by boasting it is a “sanctuary city.” Then, because New York City has embraced pro-criminal policies, all but one of the illegal immigrants arrested were released without bail, including one who already has two open cases for robbery and assault.
Those releases then reportedly led to four of those illegal immigrants giving fake names to a nonprofit group so they could get on a bus to California. In a perfect distillation of just how unserious New York City’s criminal and immigration policies are, one of the illegal immigrants nonchalantly flipped off cameras after walking out of court with no bail.
All of it has exposed the impotence of New York’s Democratic leaders. New York City Mayor Eric Adams, whose campaign was focused on crime, is left to beg for violent illegal immigrants to be deported, even though he is inviting them to his city by keeping it a sanctuary city. New York City refuses to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement on deportations and promises housing to illegal immigrants who make it to the city.

Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) is in the same boat, calling for those violent illegal immigrants to be deported while inviting illegal immigrants by offering them jobs and inviting violence through the state’s no-bail law. The result is that illegal immigrants, already playing with house money since they shouldn’t even be in the country, know they have nothing to lose and everything to gain by going to New York City and acting however they want to act. The shelter near where this attack occurred has become an open-air drug market, and New York officials have continued to turn a blind eye.
New York Democrats have brought this reality on themselves. They mixed the ingredients to get criminal behavior from people who should not even be in the country and are now outraged at what it was they cooked up. This was, and remains, avoidable, and it is embarrassing that Adams and Hochul have been reduced to complaining about how this happened.
