Vice President Kamala Harris defended 81-year-old President Joe Biden and the frequent criticisms of his age during an appearance on The View.
“So, people are saying that Biden is too old. We hear it constantly. I’ve met him many times. He told me he works out every day. I see him on television. I’m the same age, so I resent that remark. But besides that, the other side seems doddering to me, eating cheeseburgers, overweight, and he’s always in a golf cart. I mean, why is Biden getting the bad rap and not Trump? I don’t get it,” co-host Joy Behar told the vice president on Wednesday.
“Let me just address the issue directly. I spend a lot of time with our president, be it in the Oval Office, the Situation Room. We have a president in Joe Biden who is forward-thinking in a way that we’ve not seen in a long time,” Harris said.
Harris pointed to Biden’s infrastructure plan and talks with foreign leaders seeking his advice. She blamed Republicans for trying to distract “from the real issues.”

“They have nothing to run on. Where is the plan? Right, and so that’s what’s happening, and I think that sadly, there is a push from so many people in that lane to try to divide our country and distract from the real issues,” Harris said.
If Biden wins reelection in 2024, he will be 86 at the end of his second four-year term.
