No, Michelle Obama is not going to replace Joe BidenĀ as a presidential candidate

.

Conspiracy theories are often simultaneously funny and frustrating. This is especially true regarding conspiracy theories in politics. And, for whatever reason, the country seems to be continuously embracing them. Stories such as that Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) is using body doubles or is ā€œessentially brain dead, but itā€™s being hiddenā€ ā€” an idiotic theory pushed by blowhard John Cardillo ā€” or such as Tucker Carlson hinting that former President Barack Obama is a closeted homosexual in a sham marriage with Michelle Obama, have all made the rounds recently.Ā

The latest conspiracy is that Michelle Obama, the former presidentā€™s legal wife, is eventually going to replace President Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket and be the 2024 nominee. It was a claim floated this week by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). She suggested that the swap could happen because of Bidenā€™s mental decline and because the current president and former first lady share the same ideological views.Ā

ā€œShe owns Joe Bidenā€™s policies. She owns the Biden administration,ā€ Greene said during an interview on The Benny Johnson Show.Ā ā€œShe owns the failure. She owns the Green New Deal. She owns the inflation. She owns the wide-open border.ā€Ā

Moreover, according to Greene, if she did replace Biden and win the presidency, ā€œeverything weā€™ve seen for the past few years under Joe Bidenā€™s presidency will be far worse.ā€ The congresswoman from Georgia claimed that it was all part of a sinister plot concocted months ago.Ā

ā€œThatā€™s exactly what they want,ā€ Greene said about Michelle Obama being the nominee. ā€œThat has been the plan the entire time.ā€

Greene regularly gets ridiculed for some of her outspoken and outlandish claims. Some of it was fair, given the off-kilter claims she made at the time, such as the one about ā€œJewish space lasers.ā€ Other times, the criticism wasnā€™t warranted and stemmed from Greeneā€™s aggressive and assertive politics. Itā€™s easy to blast Greene for this being one of her far-out claims. However, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) also floated the Michelle Obama replacement theory recently.Ā

Whether itā€™s Greene or Cruz promoting this theory, it is somethingĀ Republicans should stop immediately. Itā€™s baseless and not grounded in any reality. Advancing such tomfoolery does nothing but make Republicans look mentally irregular. It would be one thing if anyone had any proof, but none exists. As such, anyone spreading this idea that Michelle Obama is running for office, let alone president of the United States, makes the GOP look like a bunch of dysfunctional, tinfoil hat-wearing lunatics.

Consider just some of the reasons why it is foolish to believe she might run for president. First, she has shown absolutely no sign that she is interested in running for office. All of the rumors suggesting such are purely speculative. Next, she doesnā€™t have any background in government. She has never been elected to office or run a political campaign before. Not that such a thing is necessarily required, of course, but with a few exceptions, most recently Donald Trump, however, most successful candidates for president held some kind of elected office beforehand.

Next were her comments from 2020 in which she said she wasnā€™t interested in being president.

ā€œThe reason why I donā€™t want to run for president ā€” and I canā€™t speak for Oprah [Winfrey] ā€” but my sense is that, first of all, you have to want the job,ā€ Obama said at the time. Obviously, she could change her mind. However, based on what we know so far, there isnā€™t any interest.

Then, in 2021, she expressed her desire to ā€œmove toward retirement.ā€ Instead, she wanted to help her husband develop the Obama Foundation and help develop the ā€œnext generation of leaders.ā€ By all available evidence and accounts, she is content with not being in the limelight and riding off into the sunset with her husband.

Republicans should instead criticize any one of the numerous real, valid problems facing this country because of the Biden administration. Republicans such as Greene, Cruz, and anyone else spreading the nonsense about the former first lady should focus on making sure the public is aware of Biden and the Democratsā€™ incompetencies and ineffectiveness, not unsubstantiated speculations. Focus on reality.Ā

Thereā€™s no need to create fictitious horror stories; Biden has made enough of a mess in the real world. Because, ultimately, Michelle Obama is not going to replace Biden as the Democratic candidate.
