Hordes of Christmas lovers flock to Grapevine, Texas, every holiday season to visit what has been deemed by the Texas Senate as the Christmas Capital of the state.

The city, which sits in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, draws massive numbers for the gargantuan effort it puts into celebrating the holidays by hosting more than 1,400 holiday-themed events in 40 days, according to a report.

Events sell out as early as July, and fan favorites include a North Pole Express, a resort ICE! display, the Great Wolf Lodge Snowland activity display, and a massive outdoor skating facility.

More relaxed events offer viewings of holiday classics such as Elf, Home Alone, and Miracle on 34th Street, according to the report.

The Carol of Lights festival brings everyone together to get the holiday mood going, and this year’s caroling marks Grapevine’s Christmas extravaganza’s 35th anniversary, the report noted.

Taking place the Monday prior to Thanksgiving, the Carol of Lights fills the city’s Main Street with people for the lighting of a large Christmas tree.

“We love celebrating holidays here,” said Elizabeth Shrack, Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau director of communications. “Being able to see families and friends and couples come out here all dressed up in their festive Christmas clothes and PJs, smiling, taking in the sights and sounds of the seasons — we just love it.”
