Anthony Kapel “Van” Jones is in the wrong career. He masquerades as a CNN political analyst but should arguably have a career in the arts. After years of performative politics and fake outrage in front of a camera, Jones deserves recognition and accolades for being an outstanding actor. His crocodile tears and “shaking” on CNN’s talk shows are arguably rivaled only by left-wing acting legends such as Robert de Niro and Rob Reiner. Earlier this week, the performative actor was at it again. Jones’s latest target: Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
After the fourth Republican debate earlier this week, Jones commented that Ramaswamy had him shaking over some of the things he was saying. He harshly criticized Ramaswamy and implied the presidential candidate was a liar and a demagogue. And he seemed to do so with a startling lack of self-awareness that ignored years of previous deceptive and manipulative comments by Anthony Kapel Jones.

“You’re watching the rise of an American demagogue that is a very, very despicable person. And I literally, I was — I was shaking listening to him talk because a lot of people don’t know,” Jones said.
The employee of CNN, a network that for months warned about collusion between Trump and Russia, supported such sentiments and then was caught off camera saying the whole Trump-Russia collusion quagmire was a “nothingburger.” Now, he has the audacity to call someone a demagogue. But that was not enough for Jones. Then, Jones added the Left’s favorite phrase to describe politicians challenging their left-wing political ideology.
“That is one step away from Nazi propaganda coming out of his mouth,” Jones added.
Ah, yes, the Nazi card. It is that time of year again. Happy “call someone a Nazi who isn’t a Nazi just because he disagrees with him” Month to all who celebrate.
First, it was white male Republicans that were Nazis, then it was Donald Trump, then Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and now it is Indian American Vivek Ramaswamy. But, in reality, let’s call this phenomenon what it is. To anyone on the Left, especially those in the media and on news networks, a Nazi is just anyone who triggers leftists and makes liberals and Democrats so upset that they behave like petulant children who cannot process their anger, rage, or disappointment.
But just like Jones’s “nothingburger” from 2017, so, too, are insinuations that Ramaswamy is espousing anything closely related to Nazi propaganda or rhetoric. Moreover, the fact that pundits such as Jones must use such abhorrent comparisons to facilitate their disdain for the man shows how effective Ramaswamy is with his insights and political commentary. He threatens the core tenets of left-wing orthodoxy that many of the political elite hold near and dear to their hearts.
Now, some people might not like Ramaswamy. His youth, brashness, or aggression might be unappealing to some while perfectly welcomed by others. There are many Republicans who are tired of having left-wing social and cultural issues shoved down their throats and have objected to years, if not decades, of the condescending, inflammatory rhetoric Democrats have used to describe Republicans. To those people, Ramaswamy’s tactics were welcomed. But whether people like him or dislike him is every American’s right in the free constitutional republic that we live in. None of it makes Ramaswamy a Nazi, though.
As he usually is, Van Jones was wrong. His hyperbolic hysteria is the kind of performative outrage people in the country have come to expect from Democrats. It only appeals to a rabid, left-wing base. The Left has long abandoned Godwin’s law. Instead, it’s been weaponized to rile up political support among voters and an affluent class that wants to keep the political status quo.
By now, we should know that people like Jones don’t believe much of what comes from their own mouths. In reality, they are the deceivers, manipulators, and demagogues they claim to loathe.
