Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is accusing five “Never Kevin” House Republican colleagues of lying to the GOP base.

The firebrand Georgia Republican names names and says the five are being dishonest by not supporting House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) for speaker.

She made the attack in an op-ed published in the Daily Caller.

MTG UNLOADS ON ‘NEVER KEVIN CAUCUS’ FOR ‘RISKING THE GAVEL’ IN WAKE OF LAUREN BOEBERT FEUD

“The one thing people are sick and tired of from Washington, D.C., is empty promises. Lying to the base is a red line for me, and that’s what five of my closest colleagues are doing when they claim a consensus House Speaker candidate will emerge as they oppose Kevin McCarthy,” Greene wrote.

The congresswoman specifically identified the members of Congress as Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Bob Good (R-VA), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Ralph Norman (R-SC), and Matt Rosendale (R-MT). They “are all strong conservatives and men I respect,” Greene added.

Discussing her “dear friend” Gaetz, Greene said it is “quite ironic” that he attacks McCarthy by comparing him to former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI).

“It’s quite ironic given Matt’s very first vote in Congress was for Paul Ryan as Speaker. Even when we all knew Paul Ryan would never deliver the MAGA agenda,” Greene wrote.

Greene argues that the role of speaker is complex and that “installing someone who is not prepared” would hinder GOP chances of getting legislation passed. She also defended McCarthy’s conservative record, saying, “He’s on record with the most conservative plan of any potential Speaker in decades, not because he wants the gavel, but because he actually wants to deliver.”

Continuing to make the case for the GOP favorite, Greene wrote, “The Republican conference needs to vote for Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House on January 3rd and fight like hell to deliver those promises to the American people.”

Greene’s op-ed comes days after she traded jabs with Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) over McCarthy. Boebert lampooned Greene by saying she believed in “Jewish space lasers.” Greene responded in a tweet, saying, “She gladly takes our $$$ but when she’s been asked: Lauren refuses to endorse President Trump, she refuses to support Kevin McCarthy, and she childishly threw me under the bus for a cheap sound bite.”

McCarthy is believed to be a few votes short of the 218 he needs to be elected House speaker, with Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) reportedly being told to “be ready” if McCarthy is unable to get over the vote threshold.
