The only way to get a ‘permanent ceasefire’ is to destroy Hamas

Spineless world leaders and brainless liberal activists are calling for a “permanent ceasefire” between Israel and Hamas. It is nothing more than a delusional fantasy because the only way a permanent ceasefire can be reached with Hamas is if Hamas is eliminated.
The calls for a permanent ceasefire have come from the prime ministers of Belgium and Spain, two cowards whose civilians should hope are never tasked with actually having to defend their countries from an existential threat. The calls also come from protesters across the United States and in London. The problem, of course, is that there was a ceasefire in place before Hamas decided to massacre some 1,200 civilians, a meticulously planned attack that included taking hostages and executing families in their homes.

How can you possibly demand a “permanent ceasefire” knowing that Hamas regularly violates ceasefire agreements to continue to attack Israeli civilians? You could simply deny reality, as socialist New York state Sen. Julia Salazar did after touting a permanent ceasefire march. But even then, the formula for a “permanent” end to hostilities is clear: You must eliminate the group whose entire existence is centered on slaughtering Israeli civilians (and all Jews) and destroying the state of Israel.
For as complex as this conflict is when it comes to details, one simple fact remains true. If Hamas (and all the other Palestinian terrorist groups) put their weapons down, there would be peace. If Israel put its weapons down, Hamas would continue to slaughter civilians in its efforts to erase Israel off the map. If anything, Israel is pursuing a permanent ceasefire by setting out to destroy Hamas once and for all. No ceasefire can meaningfully last when one party is a terrorist organization that makes violence and destruction a central tenet of its charter.

Anyone calling for a “permanent ceasefire” between Israel and a terrorist group dedicated to destroying Israel is a fool at best. Those who should know better, such as the prime ministers of Spain and Belgium, are far worse, whether they be cowards, antisemites, or morally bankrupt “leaders” who are just fine with antisemitic terrorists slaughtering civilians.
There is only one avenue to a permanent ceasefire, but brain-dead protesters and squeamish world “leaders” aren’t interested in it. All they are calling for is a reset to the status quo, which involves Hamas killing and kidnapping more civilians a few months from now when they decide to break another ceasefire.
