Authorities arrest pair after 430 fentanyl pills found during traffic stop

Authorities in Nebraska arrested two men Thursday after more than 430 suspected fentanyl pills were discovered during a traffic stop.
The arrest and seizure took place at around 1:30 a.m. after the pair of men were pulled over along U.S. Highway 30 and a deputy with the Merrick County Sheriff’s Office received information that one of the men, identified as 33-year-old Gustavo Loya, was involved with drug trafficking.

“A records check revealed that Loya had a warrant for his arrest out of the State of Colorado for drug related offenses,” the Merrick County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
As the traffic stop proceeded, a second vehicle committed a violation, and when authorities made contact with the driver, it was discovered that Loya had been traveling with the vehicle.
The second driver was identified as 38-year-old Patrick Snyder.

“During the course of the investigation the Merrick County K-9 was deployed and a subsequent search was conducted,” the release read. “Between the two vehicles over 430 suspected fentanyl pills, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and a loaded handgun were located and seized.”
Loya and Snyder were both taken into custody on drug-related charges and were placed in the Merrick County Jail.
