Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans opened up about his relationship with his transgender child, saying he has nothing but “unconditional love” and supports his child’s transition.

Best known for his roles in “The Wayans Bros.” and White Chicks, the 51-year-old actor described the mentality it takes to be the parent of a transgender child.

Kai Wayans was born a biological female in 2000 to Wayans and his ex-wife Angelica Zachary but does not identify with that assigned gender, according to a report.

“[I talk about] my transition as a parent, going from ignorance and denial to complete unconditional love and acceptance,” Wayans told the crew of The Breakfast Club.

“I think there’s a lot of parents out there that need that message, and I know I’m dealing with it.”

Living with a transitioning child is something Wayans intends to fold into his comedy with his upcoming special, which has the temporary name “Rainbow Child,” the report noted.

Coming to terms with his child’s choice to transition was “a very painful situation for me,” Wayans said. “But, man, it’s one of the best, funniest hours [of comedy] I probably could ever imagine.”

It has taken time to get used to the right pronouns, according to the actor and comedian.

“They know I love them, they see me try, and they’re like, ‘I’m happy,'” he said.

Wayans wants his children to feel free, he added.

“I want them to be free in spirit, free in thought, free to be themselves,” Wayans said. “The more you know yourself, the more you can govern yourself. The more you live your truth, the happier your existence.”

“If they can’t get that in the household with their father and their mother, how the f*** do I send them out into the world with that kind of confidence? I’m just so proud of them for being them.”
