Biden Xi Meet and Greet

President Joe Biden is holding a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The meeting is happening at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in San Francisco, California. It will be the first time the two leaders have spoken to each other since a personal meeting in Bali last year— no phone calls have taken place since, in a sign of growing tension between the United States and China.

The two leaders won’t be releasing a joint message after the meeting, as usually happens after high-level meetings between heads of state, the Washington Post reported, in another sign of frosty relations. Each will allow the other to release a statement reflecting their own interpretation of events.
