Democrats showed that Jamaal Bowman is above the law

Socialist Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) pulled a fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building on Sept. 30 before a House vote on government funding. After reports of what happened made the national news cycle, Bowman didn’t deny pulling the alarm but said it was done as a mistake because he was running late. He claimed he mistakenly pulled the alarm because he thought it would open the door.
But Bowman was lying, and the video of Bowman from that day conflicts with nearly every detail of his deceitful and bogus story.

As the Washington Examiner reported, the footage showed Bowman trying to go out of doors that had warning signs on them. Then, inexplicably, he pulls the signs off the door and pulls the fire alarm before walking away. Logic would dictate if Bowman had indeed thought what he pulled would actually open the door, he would have at least looked at the door. Instead, the video posted below showed Bowman walking away without ever looking at the door.
It’s despicable criminal behavior and reflective of the kind of dishonest and deceitful tactics members of “The Squad” will use to get what they want.
However, Bowman’s punishment will only be a $1000 fine and have the incident expunged from his record. It’s indicative of the corrupt favors given to the elite and reinforces the belief of many in a two-tiered justice system. If any ordinary person did what Bowman did, the consequences would be much worse than just a fine. This is especially true, considering Bowman didn’t just pull a fire alarm as a prank. He did it to obstruct a congressional vote.
“Listen, you know, I pulled the fire alarm, and I did not do it to disrupt a court proceeding, like I said. I was trying to get out the door. I was rushing to a vote,” Bowman said on Thursday. “I’m thankful that we have an agreement in place. I’m thankful in three months, it’s going to be dismissed, and now, let’s move on.”
Bowman was let off easy, and I suspect it was because he was above the law as a congressman. Under D.C. law, what Bowman did was a misdemeanor punishable by a $ 1,000 fine and up to six months in jail. However, given the video and what many suspected as the motive for Bowman’s actions, he probably should have also been charged with “illegal obstruction of congressional proceedings.” This is, of course, a felony, as the Washington Examiner’s Tiana Lowe Doescher reported previously.

Bowman’s punishment would be in stark contrast to what nearly every Democrat said when they were looking to punish former President Donald Trump. Back then, they repeated the mantra that “no one is above the law.” Clearly, if you are a Democratic congressman, you are.
Furthermore, given Rep. Hakeem Jeffries’ statement that Bowman would not suffer any further punishment, Democrats just showed once again they were liars all along. Republicans may not be above the law, but Democrats sure are.
