A cannibal in Michigan was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for the Christmas Eve killing and eating of a man he met on a gay dating app.

Circuit Court Judge Matthew Stewart of Shiawassee County handed down the sentence of life without parole to Mark Latunski for the 2019 murder of 25-year-old Kevin Bacon, according to a report.

An additional 11 to 120 months was added on for the mutilation of Bacon’s body.

“Perhaps today’s sentence will be a small amount of comfort in what I know is an enormity of hurt,” Stewart said.

Latunski pleaded guilty to Bacon’s murder in September.

He admitted to cutting the man’s throat, hanging him in his basement, and consuming his privates after meeting the hairstylist on the app Grindr on Christmas Eve 2019.

“Evil does exist, and it touched us,” Karl Bacon, the victim’s father, said. “It’s gut-wrenching to hear the details, and we’re beside ourselves.”

The victim supposedly knew that Latunski had a violent sexual fetish, court documents noted.

“What was released shows that Kevin had a dark side,” the victim’s father said. “He obviously got into something that he wasn’t prepared for. I’m going to remember him how everyone else remembers him, that he’s a good person who was passionate and cares for people.”

Pamela Bacon, the victim’s mother, addressed the court with a written statement after Latunski’s sentencing.

“Our world has been shattered,” the statement read. “Even though we have such great memories of our son, our lives will never be the same or will our family. I don’t understand why anyone could want to hurt our son, especially in such a horrific and unbelievable way.”

Christmas will never be the same for her family, according to the statement.

“Even though we will finally get justice for Kevin, it still doesn’t feel like enough, and you still get to live and do things because a pig like you … can never have remorse,” it read.

“In your sick, twisted mind, you probably think you didn’t do anything wrong, but in reality, you took our world away … This Christmas I hope you suffer like we have. I hope you feel pain because you are all alone with all the years yet to come.”
