Israel war: Biden defends Palestinians after pledging ‘unconditional’ support for Israel

President Joe Biden defended the Palestinian people on Sunday, distinguishing them from the Hamas terrorists who carried out last weekend’s terror attack in Israel.
Biden made the comment in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, as leading world actors attempt to establish a corridor for Palestinians in Gaza to evacuate the area in order for Israel to move in. Israel has been prepping for a highly-anticipated ground offensive in order to take out Hamas and rescue the around 100 people being held hostage. At least 3,600 people and 29 Americans have died since the conflict erupted on Oct. 7.

“We must not lose sight of the fact that the overwhelming majority of Palestinians had nothing to do with Hamas’s appalling attacks, and are suffering as a result of them,” the United States commander in chief wrote in a post on Sunday morning.
Biden’s comment comes after he pledged unconditional support to Israel in its mission to take out the terror group after the Oct. 7 attack. The president himself spoke multiple times with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the attack to offer that support and delivered national remarks condemning Hamas’s “pure, unadulterated evil” where he vowed to “have Israel’s back.”
“This is a moment for the United States to come together, to grieve with those who are mourning,” Biden said from the White House on Tuesday. “Let’s be real clear. There is no place for hate in America. Not against Jews, not against Muslims, not against anybody. What we reject is terrorism. We condemn the indiscriminate evil as we’ve always done. That’s what America stands for.”
“Let there be no doubt,” he added. “The United States has Israel’s back. We’ll make sure the Jewish and democratic state of Israel can defend itself today, tomorrow, as we always have. It’s as simple as that.”

The U.S. also sent Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Tel Aviv this past week and announced plans to send two aircraft carrier strike groups to the region.
The USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group arrived in the eastern Mediterranean Sea on Tuesday, while the USS Eisenhower carrier strike group was deployed to the area on Saturday.
