Discussing President Joe Biden’s signing of the Respect for Marriage Act into law, The View host Joy Behar asked Wednesday if Republicans who opposed the legislation also oppose interracial marriage.
“So does that mean these Republicans who are against the gay marriage bill are also against interracial marriage?” she asked her co-hosts.
Sunny Hostin further wondered what slippery slope gay marriage represents to Republicans, asking if they believe it leads to bestiality.

Alyssa Farah Griffin said she believes the slippery slope some Republicans might see it as is one leading to polyamory.
“If you have a problem, you have a problem with interracial marriage, don’t marry someone who’s different than you. I don’t understand why you got to be involved with somebody else’s choice,” Whoopi Goldberg said.
The ladies made fun of Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), who gave a tearful floor speech ahead of voting on the act, suggesting she is unhappy in her own marriage. “She doesn’t care about heterosexual divorces or anything that interferes with the sanctity of straight marriages,” Behar said.
Griffin, a Republican, explained, “My generation, 100%, we are the generation of marriage equality.”
“It’s these old people in my party,” she added. “I don’t mean that in an ageist way. It’s people who are out of step with the culture and the times, and they don’t realize we only want to know a society of equality.”
