The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s new director, Dr. Mandy Cohen, is asking for your forgiveness for the agency’s failures during the pandemic. Unless it comes with mass firings and her own resignation, you should not even consider it.

Cohen has been on what can only be described as an apology tour, admitting that the CDC made mistakes and all but begging people to put their trust back in the agency. This comes as she and the CDC are continuing to push people to get COVID-19 vaccinations, saying, “It’s important for Americans to get these shots.”

DOJ’S FARCE SHOULD FORCE HOUSE TO KEEP INVESTIGATING BIDENS

How important? So important that the CDC still wants children to get multiple vaccines despite the fact that COVID-19 is significantly less dangerous for children than the flu. Updated as of three days ago, the CDC’s page on COVID-19 vaccinations calls for children 5 years old and older to get one shot and children 4 years old down to 6 months to get two or three doses. The CDC also still wants children to be masked for up to 10 days or even quarantined for 10 days if exposed to COVID-19.

In other words, the CDC wants all guidance that was used to shut down schools and force children into quarantines or masks to remain in place, again, with no real benefit to children, and also wants your trust back after being responsible for those school closures and forced maskings, all without any reforms for how the agency runs or reaches the conclusions it does on COVID-19 guidance.

On top of this, the person asking for people to place their trust in the CDC has proven she is not worthy of it. While being responsible for North Carolina’s coronavirus response, Cohen supported forcibly masking unvaccinated children, canceling sports, and canceling Thanksgiving dinners. If the CDC wanted people’s trust back, it would start by cleaning its ranks of people like Cohen. Instead, she is the one President Joe Biden put in charge.

Cohen and the CDC have done nothing to regain your trust other than ask for it. Given the lack of a change of direction and the fact that CDC guidance on COVID-19 remains mostly unchanged, it is clear that Cohen’s pleas for forgiveness are empty gestures backed by empty promises.
