Arkansas Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients will be issued their final payments for the month of September in one day.

SNAP payments, also known as food stamps, are disturbed monthly to eligible low-income households to help purchase healthy groceries. In Arkansas, SNAP is distributed from Sept. 4 to Sept. 13, according to the program’s fiscal year schedule, which started on Oct. 1, 2022, and ends on Sept. 30, 2023. The exact day when beneficiaries are given their funds is dependent upon an applicant’s Social Security number.

The amount recipients will get depends on household size, income requirements, and other eligibility criteria. The average payment per household member per month in Arkansas is $170. For a household of one, the maximum benefit amount is $281, and for a household of four, the maximum amount is $939. A household of eight can see a maximum of $1,691, and for every additional member after eight, SNAP adds up to $211.

SNAP payments are loaded onto an electronic benefits transfer card each month, which recipients can use to purchase items at participating grocery stores, farmers’ markets, and some online retailers. Food products such as bread, dairy products, meat and poultry, and drink items can all be purchased through SNAP. Pet food, alcohol, and household items such as soap and paper products are ineligible.
