How will the Biden border crisis end?

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is making headlines for telling an Upper West Side town hall meeting that President Joe Biden’s border crisis will “destroy New York City.”

And that is quite the statement. But his more profound insight came earlier in his comments when he said, “Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this.”

ACT NOW TO STOP THE RETURN OF MASK MANDATES

And he’s right. As long as Joe Biden remains president, there doesn’t appear to be an ending to the border crisis. Briefly, for the month of June, it appeared that maybe Biden had turned the corner on the issue.

While arrests for illegally crossing the border did fall from a historically high 206,701 in May to 144,566 in June, that June number was still at crisis level. Then arrests went up to 183,503 in July and they reportedly shot up even higher in August (official numbers won’t be released until later this month).

If anything, the Biden border crisis is getting worse, not better. No wonder Adams doesn’t see an end in sight.

From his previous comments, Adams does seem to know what it will take to solve the issue. As he told the White House last month, “Any plan that does not include stopping the flow at the border is a failed plan.”

That is the key: stopping the flow at the southern border.

But that is not what Biden is trying to do. Biden has no intention of stopping the flow of migrants coming into the country to file bogus asylum claims that almost all of them will lose.

Asked by Brett Baier on May 1, 2022, if it is “the objective of the Biden administration to sharply reduce the total number of illegal immigrants coming across the southern border,” Mayorkas said it was not.

“It is the objective of the Biden administration to make sure that we have safe, legal, and orderly pathways for individuals to be able to access our legal system,” Mayorkas said.

And there it is. Biden isn’t trying to accomplish what even Adams knows is the first step to ending the migrant crisis: stopping the flow at the border.

Until Democrats like Adams can convince Biden that his border policies need to change, and that he needs to stop catching and releasing more migrants into the country, the crisis will only get worse.

Unless the public votes Biden out of office first.
