Biden’s masking theater will only embolden more mask mandates

Mask theater is back in style in the White House, as President Joe Biden will now be lending further credibility to the unhinged bureaucrats and administrators who are forcing masks on people, especially children, all over again.
After first lady Jill Biden tested positive for COVID-19, President Joe Biden will now be wearing a mask indoors, according to the White House. Of course, this means that the bizarre masking decisions will return in full force. In fact, the practice has already begun, with Biden wearing his mask while walking into a room full of people for a Medal of Honor ceremony only to remove it once he reached the podium.
DEMOCRATIC DEFICITS COULD DOOM US ECONOMY
This may seem like a small issue, one that is worthy of mocking Biden for the incoherence of when he and others wear masks at events like this, but it carries a bigger burden for everyday citizens. Mask mandates and masks in general did not work to prevent or even slow the spread of COVID-19. They were little more than a superstitious token for those who saw every human interaction as a threat to their health. But Biden is now lending masking legitimacy once again, and that will help power-hungry bureaucrats excuse their reimposition of masks on the public.
Case in point: Just yesterday, a school in Montgomery County, Maryland, announced that it is imposing mask mandates on children, the demographic group that is at more risk from the flu than from COVID and yet shouldered the worst of COVID restrictions for years. This announcement was made on Tuesday. Masks are being “encouraged” for children at schools in Alabama, California, and New York. Schools in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Texas have canceled classes or imposed quarantines on students over COVID.

Biden’s incoherent masking strategy, even as he continues to test negative for the virus, will only embolden the bureaucrats and administrators at these schools to continue pushing restrictions on children and will encourage others to follow suit. That is how mask mandates got going in the first place, with states and localities deferring to the “recommendations” of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to impose them and to deflect blame any time officials were questioned about it.
The COVID safetyism that Biden adheres to and has allowed to run rampant throughout his administration will once again be imposed on children while Biden models his incoherent masking philosophy. That incoherence, and his refusal to explicitly condemn anyone who imposes masks on children, will simply embolden more school districts and COVID-panicked administrators to return to forcibly masking children for no benefit other than calming their own irrational fears.
