Former Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan appeared on CBS News’s Face the Nation Sunday and discussed the 2024 presidential election with host Bob Costa, as the Washington Examiner’s Jenny Goldsberry reported earlier today.

Hogan mentioned the current political climate and answered a question about his own potential third-party presidential campaign.

BLAKE MASTER’S EXPECTED SENATE RUN CATCHES SOME ARIZONA REPUBLICANS OFF GUARD

“Let’s be real. If Trump is going to end up — looks like the nominee in January or February of next year, are you, Larry Hogan, open to being atop a No Labels ticket as a Republican-type candidate with No Labels?” Costa asked.

“It’s not something I’m pursuing,” Hogan said. “I’m hoping we don’t get to that point. I have not closed the door to that. If I believe that we can actually win the race — we have a strong ticket that those two major candidates — we might have to try to pull off something that’s never been done, which is sort of what I did in Maryland.”

I’m not exactly sure what Hogan thinks he did in Maryland or how it would carry over to a presidential election, but Hogan doesn’t have a chance to win. Not today, not tomorrow, not next week, and not this presidential election. The fact that he couldn’t admit this on Face the Nation shows he is either delusional or not telling the truth, neither of which is a good look for someone claiming to at least be considering a presidential run.

“Again, I’m still hopeful that — I’m not sure sitting here today that Donald Trump and Joe Biden are the two nominees or whether this lifts off the ground,” Hogan said. “If that’s the case, I do believe that this group has a chance to get access to the ballot in all 50 states, and if they put together, you know, a really great ticket and ran a perfect campaign, that they would actually have a shot to be not just a spoiler, but to be in it to win it.”

And if “ifs” and “buts” were candy and nuts, it would always be Christmas. Unless he is auditioning for a comedy show, Hogan’s statement is shameful.

He’s being intellectually disingenuous with the television audience. His statements are not grounded in reality. I can sit here today and confidently tell you that Larry Hogan, or anyone from his “No Labels” party, ticket, etc., will not be the next president of the United States. He is outright delusional to think otherwise, and his claims to the contrary show just how out of touch he is with voters.
