PetSmart grooming employees are wearing their ‘preferred pronouns’ on their work smocks

Earlier this week, I took my dog to get groomed at a local PetSmart in Philadelphia. When I walked into the store, I noticed a big rainbow Pride flag hanging on the wall between the grooming salon and the veterinarian’s office at this particular location. I thought it was odd, given that Pride month has long been over, and I didn’t notice any American flags hanging anywhere.

The Pride flag was out of place but a sign of things to come.

Upon entering the salon, I was greeted by a lovely woman with short purple hair. I noticed that on her smock that appeared to be part of her work uniform, where one would expect the employee’s name to be, there were her preferred pronouns, “they/them.” I couldn’t confirm if this was a company-wide policy or just something implemented at this location.

Now, the PetSmart employee was friendly, caring, and genuine. But she was female, so her pronouns are “she/her,” like all other women. This is what I am using for this article because I will not succumb to the Left’s fringe cultural attacks on language and culture. I was going to take a picture of her for this article, but I felt that would be mean, vicious, and an attempt to embarrass and ridicule her. But I had no desire to do any of that. She did a fantastic job on my dog and was very nurturing and caring toward him.

She made sure he was comfortable during the grooming and was even able to trim the area around his paws, which other groomers usually have difficulty with because my dog gets fussy. However, I did not need to know anything about who she wanted to have sexual intercourse with, the gender of people she was attracted to, or how she desired to identify herself. I didn’t care. All I wanted was for her to cut my dog’s hair. I just wanted her to do her job.

And that is at the crux of the nation’s LGBTQ craze. Most people typically don’t care what you want to do on your time. Sure, some might disagree with it, and that is their right as Americans. And just as long as no one openly discriminates against people, they don’t have to be bullied into supporting such a lifestyle. And, just as I do not broadcast the fact that I am attracted to women when I do my job, there wasn’t a need for her to promote whatever she is attracted to.

Trying to redefine the English language and grammar under the guise of equality is stupid. And, more importantly, it’s wrong. Equality doesn’t mean making special accommodations for others so that they can claim they feel comfortable. That’s not equality; that’s preference, privilege, and seeking priority.

People at PetSmart don’t need to wear their pronouns. They — pun intended — need to be competent at their jobs. There isn’t any need for anyone to publicly declare one’s sexual orientation. It’s completely unnecessary. The urge for anyone to do so results from the destructive guidance behind many of the Left’s attempts to transform the country’s culture and society.

It’s a contemporary fad that must be strongly resisted.
