The border crisis has hampered President Joe Biden and his administration since he was inaugurated in January 2021. A record number of illegal immigrants have crossed the border under Biden’s watch, and the president has done little, if anything, to stop them.

It took the president over two years to visit the area despite it being a consistent problem since his first day in office. It should be no shock that nearly half the country thinks Biden has done a poor job on immigration.

A Rasmussen poll from last week revealed that 48% of likely U.S. voters rated President Joe Biden as poor on “handling issues related to immigration.” Comparatively, only 33% of voters gave Biden a “good or excellent” rating on immigration. These percentages aren’t surprising given Biden’s inaction to resolve the border crisis. If anything, it’s shocking that only 48% rated him poorly and that percentage is not significantly higher, especially considering the one action he took to address the border crisis accomplished nothing.

For example, initially, Biden named Vice President Kamala Harris as his administration’s so-called border czar in 2021. One would naturally expect the border czar to have made some meaningful contributions to government policies regarding the border. However, Harris has done nothing of the sort. And, despite her title and the ongoing immigration crisis, Harris has only visited the border once since she has been in office. Her only contribution to the country since she has been border czar was her illogical and incorrect assessment that the border was secure.

Additionally, Biden’s immigration and border woes have contributed to a record number of drugs being seized. As more illegal immigrants cross the border than ever before, fentanyl, the dangerous drug linked to 90% of the nation’s 80,000 opioid-related deaths in 2021, is being smuggled into the country at alarming rates. Thousands of pounds of the narcotic enter through the porous border every month.

Biden’s impotence at the border is endangering the country. As such, Biden deserves to be held accountable, and more people should have rated him poorly on issues related to immigration. He has done an abysmal job.
