Oye Como Va! Legendary musician Carlos Santana dances around transgender issue

Music legend Carlos Santana has had quite the week.

“Oye Como Va,” one of Santana’s greatest musical hits. It translates in English to “Hey, how is it going?” That’s a question that many might want to ask the guitarist after his recent statements regarding transgenders.

The 76-year-old singer, whose career has spanned over six decades, was in the news for supporting truthful science and natural biology by declaring that a “woman is a woman and a man is a man” at a recent concert in New Jersey.

“When God made you and me, before we came out of the womb, you know who you are and what you are. Later on, when you grow out of it, you see things, and you start believing that you could be something that sounds good, but you know it ain’t right,” Santana said. “Because a woman is a woman and a man is a man. That’s it.”

Santana then switched positions on Thursday. He inexplicably backtracked on his statement and apologized on his Facebook account. Evidently, saying something as “radical” as a “woman is a woman and a man is a man” is offensive in this country in 2023.

“I am sorry for my insensitive comments. They don’t reflect that I want to honor and respect all person’s (sic) ideals and beliefs. I realize that what I said hurt people and that was not my intent. I sincerely apologize to the transgender community and everyone I offended,” Santana’s statement read.

But, on Friday, Santana changed his mind again and deleted the apology. In its place, the musician posted a poem:

hate begets hate

love begets love

Shortly after, Santana pivoted again and reposted the apology with additional statements. Additionally, he restricted any user from commenting on the Facebook post.

“I am sorry for my insensitive comments. They don’t reflect that I want to honor and respect all person’s ideals and beliefs. I realize that what I said hurt people and that was not my intent. I sincerely apologize to the transgender community and everyone I offended,” the latest post read.

“Here is my personal goal that I strive to achieve every day. I want to honor and respect all person’s ideals and beliefs whether they are LGBTQ or not. This is the planet of free will and we have all been given this gift. I will now pursue this goal to be happy and have fun, and for everyone to believe what they want and follow in your hearts without fear. It takes courage to grow and glow in the light that you are and to be true, genuine, and authentic. We grow and learn to shine our light with Love and compliments. Have a glorious existence. Peace,” Santana added.

Santana sounded like he wanted to stand by his statements, but seems like a public relations person advised him to apologize. However, that is purely speculative. Nevertheless, the main issue is the fact that the iconic guitarist felt he had to issue an apology in the first place. He shouldn’t have cowered to the irrational outrage and genuflected to the radical Left. Santana was defiantly “awake” when he said what he said; he didn’t need to appease the “woke.”

Santana was correct in his original statement. No matter how desperately left-wing cultural extremists want it to change, the simple truth is: a man is a man, and a woman is a woman. Entertaining fanatical notions to the contrary is what causes this craziness to continue.

And that is not “bueno pa gozar” for anyone.
