Saturday night may be “all right for fighting,” but Elton John isn’t waiting that long to get off Twitter.

John has now joined the list of celebrities who are ditching the social media site after Elon Musk took over.

Citing a new policy “which will allow misinformation to flourish unchecked,” the musician announced his departure.

“All my life I’ve tried to use music to bring people together. Yet it saddens me to see how misinformation is now being used to divide our world. I’ve decided to no longer use Twitter, given their recent change in policy which will allow misinformation to flourish unchecked,” he wrote on Friday.

With this, John becomes just the latest celebrity to leave the platform. Most recently, both comedian Jim Carrey and Whoopi Goldberg issued their own goodbyes.

In September, the artist was awarded a National Humanities Medal by President Joe Biden during a performance on the White House’s South Lawn.

John was not expecting the medal, telling the 2,000-person crowd, “I’m never flabbergasted, but I’m flabbergasted.”
