‘Rich Men North of Richmond’ artist Oliver Anthony making $40,000 every day: Report

Music sensation Oliver Anthony is reportedly earning upward of $40,000 a day from his hit “Rich Men North of Richmond.”
The tune arrived Aug. 11 and has boomed across a myriad of streaming and downloading services, including Spotify and iTunes, according to a report.

In the first week alone, it was downloaded more than 147,000 times on iTunes, bringing in $102,000.
Royalties coming from platforms, including Spotify, are likely also making Anthony a lot of money at 4 cents per stream.
“Rich Men North of Richmond” is being streamed close to 2 million times per day, according to data collected by Chartmetric, the report noted.
“The general rule of thumb is that every million streams is about $5,000 if you own all the rights,” Ross Michaels, the co-president and founder of Park Avenue Artists, said.
On average, an artist will see 70% of those funds, Michaels said.
However, $40,000 per day is possible for Anthony through additional streaming and money brought in from sites including Patreon and Bandcamp, according to the report.
Heralded as the working man’s anthem, “Rich Men North of Richmond” is about working-class people who feel beaten down and abused by politicians in Washington.

“These rich men north of Richmond / Lord knows they all just want to have total control / Wanna know what you think / Wanna know what you do / And they don’t think you know, but I know that you do,” Anthony sings. “Cause your dollar ain’t s***, and it’s taxed to no end / ‘Cause of rich men north of Richmond.”
Late Tuesday, Oliver Anthony released his latest song, “I Want to Go Home,” which amassed more than 1 million views on YouTube in the hours after being posted.
