Trevor Noah’s final night as host of The Daily Show included an emotional tribute to black women.

During his last appearance on the Comedy Central show Thursday night, Noah gave “a special shout-out to black women,” including his mother, grandmother, aunt, and others who “shaped” him.

“If you truly want to learn about America, you talk to black women,” Noah said, fighting back tears. “Because unlike everybody else, black women can’t afford to f*** around and find out. Black people understand how hard it is, when things go bad, especially in America, but any place that black people exist.”

“When things go bad, black people know that it gets worse for them,” Noah continued. “But black women, in particular, they know what sh*t is, genuinely.”

Noah added that people should talk to black women for guidance in their lives.

In September, Noah, 38, announced he would be leaving his hosting helm after seven years.

Since announcing his departure, Noah revealed he has plans to hit the road on a 28-city comedy tour that will begin in Atlanta on Jan. 20.
