A super PAC supporting Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) presidential bid was briefly suspended on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday, hours before the Republican National Committee’s primary debate.

After Never Back Down’s account was suspended, the PAC’s Strategic Communications Director Matt Wolking pointed out that it had made several posts critical of former President Donald Trump on Wednesday morning.

He further noted that supporters of Trump on the site were celebrating the account’s suspension, adding, “We have asked @X @elonmusk to disclose whether these Trump-backed accounts and their affiliated bot network have recently engaged in mass reporting against the @NvrBackDown24 account in order to manipulate X’s rules.”

The PAC has been incredibly active in early efforts to promote DeSantis, particularly in early caucus and primary states Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. Never Back Down has hosted a bus tour in Iowa already with DeSantis featured as a special guest and plans to hold a similar one in New Hampshire.

Some of the well-funded PAC’s activity and proximity to DeSantis has prompted criticism, with people wondering if the operation blurs the lines of election law.
